Friday night's social got the party started! 46 of us enjoyed each other's company at the
Marriott Main Street Bar, and the evening flew by, but for several of us, the
night didn't end there.
The adventure officially began when Suzette said "Vamos!" WPLJs was
our next destination, and we danced until we closed the place down. On our walk back to the hotel, some of us
decided that a trip to the beach was in order, but first Todd made sure we were
prepared! We took pillows and blankets
from Chris' room, and then we stopped by Suzette's house to get outfitted with
warm jackets and socks and flip flops.
Nations was calling to us, and we enjoyed a hearty meal before hitting
the road. Christina drove the group
through pea soup-thick fog up to Twin Peaks, and back
down the mountain to Ocean Beach,
where Todd and Chris got two fires going for us. Bundled in blankets, Nancy and Suzette
enjoyed a cat nap. Karen and Christina
took pictures, and Kevin suggested we find a seagull to roast on the blazing
fire. We told stories and made each
other laugh and we watched a brightly-lit tanker cross the darkness before us
and enter the bay under the Golden Gate
Bridge. The salty mist off the ocean cooled our faces
as the sun rose, bringing light and clarity to the horizon. After dousing the fires with sand, we headed
back to the east bay. Back at the hotel,
we took a last group photo and parted ways to rest up for the long night ahead,
when the fun times will continue with the rest of our classmates who are able
to join us - we sure wish everyone could be here with us!
I never imagined it would be as much fun as it is so far!
